I’ve Got My Philosophy

The Philosophers’ Magazine has an online games section where you can test your philosophical thinking and possibly learn a little about yourself.

My favorites are Battleground God, Morality Play, and The Philosophical Health Check, though they’re all good.

It’s Official!

Well, almost official. Megan has been accepted into nine different programs and she’s finally decided on Widener University in Philadelphia. As soon as she sends in her deposit it will be official.

I’m really excited and a little bit nervous about moving picking up and moving to a new city for at least the next five years. I still haven’t figured out how I’m going to go about getting a job there, nor do I know exactly when I’m going to leave my current job. The lease for our apartment runs through the end of May so I’ll need to see about extending it for a couple months.

While she was in interviews at all of the other schools, I checked out the surrounding areas for what looked like okay places to live, and where I might be able to find a job. Of course, she decided on the only school that I didn’t take her to so I don’t really have a feel for the place yet. Hopefully we’ll be able to make a visit there in the next few weeks to scope out prospective places to live. If anyone has any knowledge of the area, please share.

One bonus to living there is that we’ll be just a little over an hour from Tall Brian.

My current mindset: Six months from now my life will be almost totally different, and that’s pretty damned cool.

So Tired

Last night started to get a headache around 8:00 and wound up falling asleep on the couch around 8:45. I slept until this morning, woke up feeling shitty, called in sick to work and went back to sleep. I wound up sleeping until about 12:30. After fifteen or so hours of sleep, I couldn’t sleep any more so I got up.

I drove Megan to the post office so she could send in another three applications and then we came back home. I’m feeling tired again but not as bad as last night. Hopefully I’ll be able to stay awake at least a little while because tonight’s Insomniac with Dave Attell is set in Cleveland. It’ll be interesting to see what a visitor found to do late-night in Cleveland. Hopefully there’ll be at least some bowling.

Strange, the Insomniac web site claims tonight’s show is in Toronto but the commercials this week showed Cleveland. Oh well, we’ll see.

Where Will It Be?

Megan is working on graduate school applications now. She’s sent five of them in already, and has about eight more to go. She’s applying to Clinical Psy. D. programs all over the country.

I plan to follow along and get a job wherever she ends up which could be any one these cities: Philadelphia, Dayton, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Terre Haute IN, New Brunswick NJ, Chicago, Portland OR, Indiana PA, or maybe even good ol’ Cleveland OH.

It’ll be fun.

Five Years

Believe it or not, Megan and I have been together for five years as of today. It seems like December ‘97 was just yesterday, yet at the same time it’s as if I’ve known Megan my whole life. I’m excited about moving to another city with her when she goes to grad school. She’s so cool.
