In Canada, we have the “Pasta Pro” that is sold by Canadian Tire.

I just put in a complaint as the coating came off with my last batch of elbow pasta (ummmm, yuck!)

I have had the same problem with my pasta pots ie the teflon coating peeling off. I am attempting to locate the manufacturer in order to voice my complaint also I intend to contact Consumer Safety Products in Washington D.C. since I feel the pans are health hazard due to the fact teflon can emit a posionous gas at high temperatures. I urge anyone who has the aforementioned problem to contact Consumer Safety Products.

my wife and i have both scalded ourselves using the better pasta pot. the lid came off for both of us. i feel its a piece of shit that will result in major lawsuits. we threw it out today.

I used the smaller of the Premier Pasta pots twice. The second time the teflon cam right off. This is a potentially dangerous situation and these pots should be taken off the market.

I baught and received my posta pot express a few months ago, when using it on a low heat I noticed a bad odor,i was boiling potatos in water when this happened and this has happened before.

I have a “Cooks Essential” brand pasta pot. It has a heavy bottom for even heating, stainless outside and teflon inside. I have used for everything this past year and it has performed well. If you want a pasta pot, check this one out.

I have used the InstaPastaPot several times for pasta with No problems. My husband bought it for me at the Dollar Store for $10. Today I double checked the box and the short instruction sheet which said you could cook other things in it. I simmered a batch of plums in it to make jam. The lid locked well to strain out the pulp and leave the stones and skins inside. As I emptied these from the pot, I saw the non-stick coating was gone! 8 pints of jam contaminated. I have plenty of pots for boiling water and I have a colander, InstaPastaPot is going to the landfill. At least I now know it wasn’t because we had bought a cheaper version. This sucks!!!

i used the pasta premier pot the big one is great the small one has teflon coming off the big chopper is great i need the number to them so i can ask them about the teflon coming off i only used plastic utensils in them

I cook lots of things in my pasta pots and when the steam hits the inside of the cover, the water from that is pink…does this mean the paint on the inside of the lid is coming off in the food????? I would think so…this can’t be heathy!

i used the pasta premier. It sucks! i have always used pots with teflon so i take care not to damage the teflon. However, on the first use of the P.P., pratically the entire bottom of the teflon came off. I was shocked – then very angry. Those pots should be taken off the market.

they cashed my check april 1,2003 and havn`t recieved the pots i guess i`m out $39.00

Apparently ABC News reviewed them. Personally, if you have a pot, pot holders and a colander. Go for it! Why waste money!

Here’s the ABC report:
The pasta pots are basically pots with lock-on lids and colander-style holes in the top, designed to help cooks avoid spills and burns when pouring out the water after cooking pasta.
Two million pasta pots have been sold since the infomercials began hitting the airwaves in November 2002, according The Wall Street Journal, which reports that the new product appears poised to become the biggest thing since the George Foreman Grill, a $400 million-a-year business.

The Good Housekeeping Institute tried out two new models: the Pasta Pro, $19.95 and the Better Pasta Pot, selling for $19.99, and the verdict wasn’t very positive.

Ellen Levine, editor-in-chief of Good Housekeeping, told Good Morning America that the Pasta Pot is not for her. “I’m a colander kind of girl,” she said.

Built Not to Spill

Based on the test results, there were problems with each pot, Levine said.

The Pasta Pro cooker is touted in infomercials as “the spill-free way to cook, drain and serve perfect pasta.” The Better Pasta Pot commercial boasts that being able to pour out the liquid without removing the lid is “the best new idea since spaghetti and meatballs.”

The premise, at least, sounds good, but Levine says it’s certainly not a kitchen necessity.

“I say if you have a small kitchen, do not necessarily consider these because they are not multipurpose,” she said.

The Good Housekeeping Institute looked at a variety of factors, including how the pasta cooked, how it drained, how difficult it was to manipulate the handle, and how well the all-important locking mechanism works. “It can be difficult to operate these,” Levine said.

Too Hot to Handle

Good Housekeeping found mixed results with the Pasta Pro, which promises to be spill-free and make perfect pasta.

“Although we found that the lid mechanism locks as advertised, we had a problem with the so-called ’stay-cool’ handles. The Pasta Pro people claim their handles stay cool

I ordered 3 Pasta Pot Express the first week of jan, 03. They arrived this week…end of April…..but one of them only contained the one big pot. how can I get the rest of the pieces? AND these were going to be gifts in the last few months…..what a mess to have to buy other gifts when these didn’t arrive on time..now i have more than I need..HELP

I ordered 2 seperate orders which was The Better Pasta Pot.I did it through the Inventors Channel,it was to include in each seperate order a big pasta pot,small pasta pot,a cheese grater ,a veggie chopper and a mat to chop it on.
My mother who lives in Canada got her order which was not right Feb 8 which included her big pot with steamer andalittle pot and cheese grater and
a utensil to get the spagetti out. Mind yu I sent them 2 chks to cover the cost plus my mom living in canada had to pay 10.00 for duty tax.
Now I just now get my order today and opened it up I got both pans and steamer,cheese grater, but I got a 3 year warranty which I did not order so that there shows me how good the product is plus I got a 9’round cake pan that i didn’t need which
I don’t bake so that did me a lot of good. So in other words people we all got screwed royal which
I don’t take lightly at all. So what I plan to do is turn them over to the better business bureau.the consumer affair dept,the states
attorney’s office and one that they really won’t
like is all the T.V. networks that allow them to
advertise their product.So join the band wagon everyone and start calling so you can get what you ordered and good luck.
