Tropical Craziness

Weather Underground has been my favorite weather site ever since I learned to use their telnet site years ago.

Today I noticed their tropical weather section, and found that it has some cool stuff.

For each of this year’s storms, they have a bunch of different maps. I find the computer models and strike probability maps especially cool.

I sure am glad that where I live there’s no hurricanes, floods or earthquakes. All we have to deal with living close to Lake Erie is the infrequent tornado… Oh yeah, and lake-effect snow.

in NC we are hoping for some tropical weather. The worst drought in 77 years and unless we get some super hardcore storms this winter we will run out of water next spring.

The WU is probably one of my most-visited websites. I like the little “Nowcasts” that they use to update the daily forecasts. And they also have local radar images, which some other sites don’t. Madison is pretty natural-disaster-less… I hope they’re right about getting hail tonight.
